VINCI – LEONARDO DA VINCI MUSEUM

It is located in the Uzielli Palace and in the Conti Guidi Castle. It collects one of the most complete reproductions of the models designed by Leonardo. On the first floor of the Palazzina Uzielli, at the beginning of the museum itinerary, there are two important sections, which collect respectively the construction machinery and textile technology. The models are commented on by a story through images, documents and virtual functioning reconstructions. Are there any activities? didactics for both schools and scholars. The Castello dei Conti Guidi houses more than 6 models of machines designed by Leonardo, each of which accompanied by copies of drawings and annotations by the artist. A large panel, located on the ground floor of the castle, illustrates the biography of Leonardo and the most representative stages of his activity, in the context of contemporary historical events. The models of military, scientific and flight machines are particularly interesting. Among the models that will not fail to arouse curiosity, that of the self-propelled wagon or automobile, a real prototype of future (and current) applications, the swing wing and the working 1: 2 scale model of the crane used for the dome cusp. of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. In the projection room it is possible to see films on documents by Leonardo the artist, scholar and engineer.
